Scope
Turnkey supply, configuration, and commissioning of the Protection, Command, and Control System for the Torres Vedras Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant.
Project description
ENERGETUS is one of the leading EPC (Engineering – Procurement – Construction) companies in the region for medium-scale power plants. Focusing on Integrated Solutions based on Renewable Energy Plants (Solar, Wind, Hydro), ENERGETUS can deliver any solution to provide sustainable energy autonomy to its clients, including Battery Energy Storage Systems, Hydrogen, and conventional power plants.
The Torres Vedras Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant is the first in a series of projects marking ENERGETUS’s expansion in the field of Solar Photovoltaic Energy Generation, which will be supervised and controlled at the new dispatch centre, designed to optimise production and increase availability levels.
This plant has a licensed capacity of 1 MVA and is located near the city of Torres Vedras. The connection to the E-REDES Distribution Network was successfully completed on 3 May 2023, and the Grid Code Compliance tests, required for the Operating Licence, were successfully concluded on 29 May 2023.
ENERGETUS will be responsible for the construction of other similar solar power plant projects, which will also include PCCS supplied by ENGIPROT, to be connected to the grid during 2023 and 2024. More information can be found here: [https://www.energetus.pt](https://www.energetus.pt)
Description of Activities
The ENGIPROT team was responsible for the following tasks:
- Technical support and consultancy to ENERGETUS during the detailed design phase;
- Development of performance and efficiency calculation algorithms for the power plant;
- Basic design, supply, configuration, and commissioning of the microSCADA system (iGRID T&D iControl), which will enable full supervision and control of the power plant;
- Integration of third-party equipment: SUNGROW, ITRON, SCHNEIDER, ADVANTECH;
- Basic design, supply, configuration, commissioning, and acceptance testing with E-REDES for the Interconnection Protection Relay (INGETEAM DA PT);
- Configuration and testing of the Transformer Protection Relay (ORMAZABAL EKOR RPG 201)
- Supply, configuration, commissioning, and acceptance testing with E-REDES for the RTU functions and Automatic Oscillography Collection/Transmission, integrated into the microSCADA system;
- Configuration for integration with ENERGETUS’s Remote Command and Operation Centre in Tondela, which will also be supplied by ENGIPROT.
Benefits for the Client
The ENGIPROT team’s technical expertise in the various components of Protection, Command, and Control Systems enabled the client to have a single Portugal-based company responsible for the configuration, parameterisation, testing, commissioning, and integration of the equipment with E-REDES, eliminating the need to manage multiple suppliers and service providers to complete the project and obtain the Grid Connection Agreement.
